Canoeing Ostomy bag
The following is the contents of my Canoeing Ostomy bag. As stated I use it for canoeing but it would
be the same for any outdoor or off road activity where you might need to empty or change your bag
when there are no toilets or other facilities available.

i) One ostomy bag change
(1) Precut bag
(2) Ring
(3) Extenders/wings
(4) Adhesive remover spray
(5) Barrier spray/cream

Dry bag containing


ii) Plastic sealed container containing
(1) Hand sanitizer
(2) Wet wipes
(3) Cloths
(4) Disposable bags
iii) 1 litre container/s to hold the output

How to use the pack


1. Place a disposable bag inside the 1 litre container
2. Insert a cloth at the bottom to help hold the output
3. Empty your ostomy bag into this.
4. Clean up as normal and place used cloths and wipes into the container
5. Use the sanitizer to clean your hands
6. Place all used items into the bag and tie the top
7. Place the lid on the container
8. Place everything in the dry bag to be disposed of later.
I re-use old containers to hold everything.
• A screw top container to hold the cloths, wipes, disposable bags and hand sanitizer.
• 1 litre yoghurt containers which I can stack so that I can put 2 or in the bag in case I need to
empty my ostomy bag more than once.

Where possible keep the clothes in sealed bags so when you need them they feel fresh clean and dry
